On Friday February 23, the juniors and seniors gathered together in the gym for the prom reveal put on by StuGo during their advisories. Students waited in anticipation to see what this year’s prom theme would be as games were played and competitions were held.

After the theme “City of Stars” was revealed, students had many different reactions and opinions on this year’s prom and theme. Seniors look forward to spending their last prom of high school at the Pressroom downtown, especially after the video that was shown at the assembly.

“I’m really excited for this year’s prom theme,” senior Orlando Rivas said. “I think that it’s a really creative idea that will make for a very memorable senior prom. I thought the video was cool and got me really pumped for the venue and theme. It’s way different than last year’s prom and has a whole different vibe to it so I’m excited to experience something new.”

Despite the success of the prom reveal, StuGo faced adversity in coming up with a theme that would not come off as cliche or predictable. Once they came up with “City of Stars,” their ideas started to flow and the theme stuck.

“StuGo was having some trouble coming up with an original and exciting prom theme this year,” junior StuGo member Ambar Silverio said. “But once we came up with the City of Stars theme, everyone started to get really excited and started coming up with more ideas that would match the city of stars idea. I think it will make for a fun prom and the venue is perfect with the theme.”

Sponsor Elyse Speigel thinks the assembly went really well and that StuGo did a great job organizing the event. She is excited for this year’s prom as thinks the theme will make for a successful dance.

“I thought the prom reveal assembly went really well,” StuGo advisor Elyse Spiegel said. “The kids did a good job organizing and putting the event on. Each activity kept the students engaged and got them excited for the prom reveal. The video was very well put together and got them excited for this year’s theme. I’m super excited for the theme. I thought it was a very creative idea that will make prom a success.”

Make sure to buy your prom tickets soon because they go up by 10 dollars each week.  Also, for this event, NO tickets will be sold at the door. Prom will be held, Saturday, April 14 from 7-11 p.m. at the Pressroom downtown. Do not forget student ID’s and to wear formal dress- there will even be a photobooth provided.
