Theatre Club is Back!

Gabby Comer, Editor-in-Chief

With the move from online to in-person school, the Verrado theatre club is starting up again! They will meet on Tuesdays in the black box(E-Wing) from 3:30-4:30. According to Riley Wade, the club’s co-president, “last year theatre was heavily affected by Covid-19. With clubs being online, we struggled with hands-on acting and technical work. Now that theatre club is back in person, we hope to begin hands-on work again.” In the club, they do improv games, tech workshops, audition workshops, and lots more. Theatre is not just for people who want to be on stage. There is truly something for everyone.

After being mainly virtual last year, the Verrado Theatre Club is ready to get back into the swing of things. They already have a fall show lined up called “Law and Order Fairy Tale Unit,” and there will be a musical in the spring as well. Auditions for the fall show will be in late August. According to Riley, the main goal of the theatre club this year “train the next generation of actors and techies at Verrado”  Riley says the best way to get information about the club is to talk to Ms. Farrington, the black box as well, or you can visit our theatre’s page vhs_theatre_club for more club updates and info.

So why should you join the theatre club? According to Riley, “Theatre is a family forever.” Riley stressed that theatre is a special place, welcoming and accepting of everyone at Verrado, a place where no one has been turned away for wanting to be themselves or wanting to have fun.  So if you are looking to be involved with the school community or are just wanting to have some fun, then the theatre club might just be for you!
