This New Year’s, I put a lot of thought into my resolutions. Last year I just wrote normal resolutions like exercise and eating healthily. This year, however, I want to start doing random acts of kindness because it will make someone’s day. Most resolutions are improving yourself and starting good habits but what about being friendlier to others you don’t know? Many people don’t realize how such small things can impact someone’s day. Simple things like a compliment or holding the door for someone. Being kind not only has an effect on the person but can also motivate them to show kindness to others as well.

For example, a few years ago my family and I were in the Starbucks drive-thru and the person in front of us paid for our order so we did the same for the person behind us. Another example would be complimenting someone or helping someone around the house. Doing a chore your family member does that you don’t normally do, like doing the dishes or making dinner. By helping around the house can help to show appreciation to your parents or guardian.

Trying something new is also great for a New Year’s resolution. Like trying a new restaurant or new foods. Since I have moved here I haven’t tried many restaurants. There are a lot of good restaurants here like Rosati’s (Italian restaurant), and Pt. Pho Express is my favorite restaurant so far here. I am looking forward to trying more restaurants.

Another idea of trying something new is trying a hobby. This year I also want to try to start cooking and baking more often. There are tons of recipes that I want to try like Nutella Brownies, Raspberry Blondies, and Shrimp pasta. Cooking and baking help me destress that’s why I want to do it more often.

Overall, I believe creating New Year’s resolutions because it gets you thinking more about yourself like what you should work on or work more of. It helps you have a positive view of the future and will get you motivated for what is upcoming. I hope some of these ideas help you with your New Year’s Resolutions or get you to think more about them!
