This fall, Verrado High School will present Clue by Debra Hill in the school auditorium from Nov. 6 to 9. In this captivating adaptation, an unknown Host invites six guests to a dinner unaware of the events that will be pursued.
Each guest is given a false name such as Colonel Mustard. But as the evening commenced, they began to unveil that they were being blackmailed. Each is granted a weapon and an option. What continues is a zany absurd afternoon of mysteries and laughs.
For Christina Farrington, the Verrado High School drama teacher, Clue was a standout choice. She states, “ We thought murder mystery was a good idea for the kids.” She believes this play would be something her students would enjoy and translate well onto the stage. They have also tediously worked on the project since the cast was assembled.
As it shows, “We have rehearsals at least 6-9 hours a week. We figure out characters and placements up on stage, determine what the light will look like, put in sound, and everything adds up together during the process.” They are working to bring their A-game to their November play. Along with that, it will bring great.
While many of the auditioners were filled with excitement and enthusiasm, many students brought a wealth of experience. Izaiah Roman, who played Javert in Les Miserables, says, “Colonel Mustard. I probably chose that role because I like playing stubborn characters.”
Izaiah Roman believes Colonel Mustard is a great choice for him as he can resonate with the fact that he is stubborn and recognizes that is something he enjoys in the character. With his experience, we will surely see a performance that will leave the audience in awe even after the final scene. With his keenness for the role, it allows for a great transition to on-stage presence.
Another instance is Ezra De Paz, who played in Mean Girls. He says, “Professor Plum because the character description sounded fun and interesting. He is an academic casanova who woos women with his brain.”

I have always thought theater was so cool, with everyone’s voices coming together to make a story of sound. the dancing and singing harmonized to create something people won’t forget.
