Amazing soccer news at Verrado! Both girl’s and boy’s soccer teams qualified for the playoffs this year. With an ending regular season of 8-6-5 for the Lady Vipers, 9-6-4 was the ending record for the men’s team.
This year the top twenty-six teams were taken to the playoffs. The boys landed at #15 going into it and the girls were #16th. The teams are both coming off a win from North Canyon, the boys winning 2-1 and the girls winning with a shutout 6-0.
With leaders guiding the teams into playoffs; Head Coach Randy Watkins with captain Aidan Eppley for the boy’s team. Then for the girl Head Coach Ernie and captains Casey McCorry, Jaylin Hiller, and Annalise Martinez. All phenomenal players and coaches will hopefully help the Vipers get wins!
We also have a handful of seniors on their last go around her at Verrado. Annalise Martinez, Arin O’brien, Maya Gonzalez, and Keily Miranda for the girls. Then for the boys, we have Grant Weniger, Manny Perez, Sebastian Velez, Andre Galindo, Gabriel Sosa, Jesus Hernandez, Aiden Eppley, and Matias Del Moral. We wish them the best of luck outside of the program and hope they flourish on their own whether they continue soccer or go another pathway.
Both teams earned the opportunity to host their first playoff games. The girls first played against Centennial. With them tying twice in the season it’s sure to be a competitive challenge. Then the boys are playing Canyon View tomorrow the 14th. Both games are at 6 pm, spread some love to the Vipers this Valentine’s Season and show your support! Tickets for both games are available through GoFan, $5 for parents and $3 for students. We wish good luck for our sports teams and hope they can make it far!
