The Verrado Cross Country team recently had their 2023 Senior Night on Wednesday, September 13. This event celebrated seven seniors and their accomplishments with running and throughout high school.
The seniors had the opportunity to walk across the field with their escorts of choice, getting a picture and an emotional hug from their coach, Mrs. Olveda. Flowers and a graduation cap made out of paper and filled with candy were given to the senior runners too.
After the senior night, the actual race commenced against two other schools, La Joya and Shadow Ridge, with Verrado Boys placing first and Verrado Girls placing second. The first three finishers of the meet were all Verrado runners: Joseph Melessa, Charles Eutsler, and Kameran Crespo. For the girls, Maryn Wolf, a Verrado Runner, placed first, a whole 2 minutes in front of the second-place runner.
The Verrado Cross Country team had a great time and were in preparation for their Friday night meet in Irvine, California. This meet was an amazing opportunity for the runners and was the first time the team had gone out of state for a cross-country meet.
