Last night at Verrado was Flagfootball’s senior night game! The girls went against Notre Dame Prep and won 35-14. This has been the seventh consecutive win in a row.
The Lady Vipers celebrated all ten of their seniors; Captain Simone Pfitzer, Kaitlynn Rioja, Taehanie Scott, Emily Brooks, Greenlee Henderson, Chole Fink, Jazmine Randolph, Arin O’brien, Dakota Chazaro, and Jaidyn Goins.
Around 5:20 PM, the girls walked out with their family members and friends. They walk all the way to the halfway line. All coaches; Coach Barnes, Coach Dra, and Coach Booth meet the girls there with flowers. Besides Coach Scott, walking his daughter Taehanie Scott last night.
The seniors also received a basket and a poster from the underclassmen. The baskets were filled with favorite things in the poster, being handmade, using pictures of them now and their younger selves.
All seniors started in their main positions on offense or defense against Notre Dame Prep. Leaving their marks on the home field for the last time.
Flag Football has done astonishing this year making their way to be perhaps regional champions. The girls are currently ranked 3rd in the 5A region just following behind Mountain Pointe at 2nd and Canyon View at 1st. However, they are leading in 1st of the 5A Desert West Divison. They are 9-1 when it comes to losses and wins overall.
With all this winning the girls have racked up some impressive stats! Freshman Mia Williams has a total of 2,187 passing yards under her belt. Being the number one quarterback in the 5A Desert West Division and being ranked as 4th in all the quarterbacks of the 5A region. Senior Greenlee Henderson has a total of 58 tackles. Also Junior Nevaeh Romero has a total of 48 points scored by touchdowns.
This was the flag football’s last home game and they have two more games left in the regular season. They play La Joya Community High School for a second time on October 29th and then play Sierra Linda again on November 5th. So go on and support the ladies in anyway possible!
