One of history’s most notorious girl groups is the 3rd gen K-pop band Blackpink, consisting of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. The group began in August 2016 with their debut song, ‘ Boombayah,’ on their album Square One under YG Entertainment.
Over the near decade they’ve been in the scene, the girls have hit numerous records, standing with 16.5M monthly listeners on Spotify. Their most streamed song is ‘How You Like That’, with over a billion streams—winning around 117 awards at v award shows and having 357 nominations.
Many put the girl group on the same level as BTS, another incredibly successful K-pop group that has gained fame worldwide.
Recently though, when the group was asked to renew their solo contracts under YG, each of the girls decided to keep their solo careers separate from the company, wanting more creative freedom on their projects. With member Rosé dropping her album titled Rosie and releasing the popular song ‘APT’ with Bruno Mars, winning the Global Sensation award at the 2024 MAMA Awards. She also garnered millions of streams on each of her songs on the album.
Rapper of the group Lisa released hit singles such as Rockstar, Moonlit Floor(Kiss Me), New Woman (Feat. ROSALIA), and Born Again (Feat. Doja Cat and Raye), each being massive hits on the internet, even being one of the performers for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
Member Jennie also has released some new music, having a feature on The Weeknd’s song One of the Girls with Lily-Rose Depp and even having a role in his Max TV series, The Idol. Jennie also released her single Mantra on October 10, 2024, followed by her upcoming album ‘Ruby’ with features such as Doechi, Childish Gambino, Kali Uchis, and much more.
Member Jisoo has also decided to further explore her acting career, getting a main role in the new Kdrama, Newtopia, a comedic romance following characters Lee Jae-yoon and Kang Young Joo (played by Jisoo) who are a couple recently broken up when a zombie outbreak occurs in Seoul. Jisoo also came out with her new EP ‘AMORTAGE’ on February 14, 2025.
Despite the girl’s thriving solo careers, the members still care for Blackpink and their fans deeply, recently announcing a World Tour in 2025 visiting California, New York, Toronto, and many more for their most recent album ‘Pink Venom’.
Many fans were worried about the girls slowly departing from the group, going on with their lives independently. Blackpink is such a unique group, one that took the world by storm and has had an incredibly loyal following for almost 10 years. So when the group started slowing down, it troubled many. Fans had to wait two years for any new music from the group where all the girls were together, making the group’s future uncertain.
One thing is for sure, even if the group were to separate and focus on their solo projects, the Blackpink fanbase will forever be strong, supporting each of the girls individually. New fans may even arise.

This write up does a great job explaining how much Blackpink has done and how successful they’ve been. It shows how the group became famous and then goes into what each member is doing on their own which is really cool. It also mentions how even though the girls are doing their own things their fans still support them all the way. The ending is really strong because it reminds everyone that Blackpink will always have a big impact and no matter what happens. I honestly Love Black pink.
