Being Present

Are you spending too much time thinking ahead? Worrying about your future? Like shower thoughts, Or just thoughts you have when it’s quiet and you’re alone. Most people say they’re scared to grow up so they don’t like to think about their future. But, we all do even if we don’t want to. Once we start to think about our future we start to worry and it’s always on our minds. There are some benefits from thinking ahead though. Some people don’t worry about their future at all and wait till the last minute to do everything. As high schoolers, most of us don’t know what we’re going to do with our future and that causes us to stress about the unknown.

Looking in the future can cause you to take the small things in life for granted. Like you are just waiting for the big things in your life to happen. Stressing about the future can hurt your mental health because if you’re worried and have chronic stress you have a high risk of developing anxiety and/ or depression. You don’t treasure every moment of life you have. We all take life for granted. We as people need to learn that not every day is guaranteed and we need to cherish the little things in life.

Many of us spend too much time overthinking and it makes us not live in the moment. Like on road trips, we’re on our phones and we don’t really care to watch outside and enjoy the scenery around us. Being on our phones can distract us from what’s going on in the real world. We don’t observe around us, we’re too focused on what’s inside of our screen. Moments like that are the times we just look around and observe the things around us. You would be surprised at how much you find out about a place by just looking around.
