Verrado Baseball Completes The Sweep Versus Rival Canyon View

Their next game took place on Friday the 15th, against Canyon View. In front of a packed house, the Vipers would win a narrow fashion, 4-3. It was a very well-pitched game for both sides. Verrado would get their first run due to a defensive mishap. An errant thrown from the catcher would allow Larry Haskins to score. Haskins was trying to steal 3rd base and the throw sailed into left field allowing him to score. Canyon View would respond with a run to tie the game at 1 all. Then in the 5th innings, Tommy Chiappetti would hit a ringing double off the wall. It would score two runs and give the Vipers a 3-1. The Jags would once again tie the game up, however, as in the top of the 7th inning, a well-placed single from Canyon View would deadlock the score at three. However, in the latter half of that inning, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two outs, Garrett Hicks would deliver a single up the middle to score the winnings run. A 4-3 win and 12 consecutive wins.
The following Tuesday, Verrado would travel to Canyon View and win the game 6-2. In a game that was controlled by Verrado from the early going. Garrett Hicks once again pitched 6 strong innings while striking out 5. A three-run bomb from Larry Haskins flipped the momentum early on. Some more timely hitting from Brendan Killeen, Garrett Hicks, and Joe Perez would give the vipers a very comfortable lead going into the 7th. Then Ty Acton shut the door with a 1-2-3 inning. 13 in a row.
