The UFC’s 300th event is steadily approaching, set for Saturday, April 13, 2024. This event is expected to be huge, starring several big names even in the preliminary fights.
While some fights on the card have been confirmed, they are subject to change based on the fighter’s health or training. There are also several rumors surfacing about who will really face who at this massive event for the sport.
This event is a little different, with fights from several different weight classes rather than preliminary rounds. Featuring big-name fighters from lightweight, women’s strawweight, featherweight, women’s bantamweight, bantamweight, middleweight, and light-heavyweight divisions.
The first big name on this card is in the first fight of the night. Bobby Green is taking on Jim Miller in this lightweight bout.
Bobby Green is the No. 14 ranked lightweight contender holding a professional record of 31-15-1. Jim Miller is an unranked contender with a record of 37-17. Bobby Green is expected to come out winning with his striking and takedown defense, even though Miller’s ground game is superior.
The next big fight on the card is the bantamweight bout between the two former champions Deiveson Figueiredo and Cody Garbrandt.
Deiveson is the No. 8 ranked bantamweight fighter while Cody is currently unranked. Cody is expected to come out on top of this battle, as he holds more experience in the bantamweight division.
Next are the names that really gravitate the most attention to this card. Starting with Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsaryukan.
Charles Oliveira is currently one of the most well-known names in MMA, most known for his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu style and incredible grappling skills. Oliveira also holds the most wins by submission in UFC history. Ranked the No. 1 lightweight contender, the former champion of the division holds a record of 34-9. This former champion’s elite grappling skills are a perfect match for the Armenian fighter. Tsaryukan is the No. 4 ranked lightweight contender, holding a record of 21-3, he also relies very heavily on his ground game.
Tsaryukan showcased his amazing wrestling skills when faced against the current lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, who is known as one of the greatest grapplers in UFC history. This fight is likely to hold an incredible display of 2 highly skilled grapplers, utilizing amazing technique throughout their fight.
The third fight of the night holds two of the most popular names in MMA. Justin Gaethje is facing Max Holloway. Both fighters are ranked No. 2 in their divisions, with Justin at lightweight and Max at featherweight.
The two will be fighting at lightweight, between 146 and 155 pounds. With Justin holding a record of 26-4 and Max a record of 25-7, Max is the fan favorite in this fight due to his experience as the former dominant champion of the featherweight division. Max defended his title 3 times before losing it to Alexander Volkanovski. Many believe his time is over and it is time for the former interim and winner of the UFC BMF championship Justin Gaethje to take over.
The final and main event of the night: Alex Pereria vs Jamahal Hill. With Alex holding a record of just 9-2, he is one of the only fighters in UFC history to become a champion in 2 different weight divisions. Alex became the champion of the middleweight division after beating Israel Adesanya, then only a year later he became the light heavyweight champion after defeating Jiří Procházka. However, his opponent is no stranger to being a champion.
Holding a professional record of 12-1, Jamahal Hill became the light heavyweight champion after defeating Glover Teixeira for the belt. Hill has also managed to come out on top of fighters like Johnny Walker and former interim light heavyweight champion Ovince Saint Preux. After rupturing his Achilles tendon, Hill looks to regain his former glory and come out on top against the heavily accomplished Alex Pereira.
