Winter Trends For Vipers

Taylor Swift cardigans – Red (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version)

With it finally being somewhat chilly in Arizona, warm and cozy trends are arriving. Ribbon bows on everything from Uggs, to Christmas trees and tote bags, the possibilities are endless this season.

Ribbon bows are one of the girliest trends this winter. Pink, lace, velvet, thin, and thick bows are all in for this year. People are putting these bows on everything. Christmas trees, hair, Ugg slippers, clothing, and putting the design of the bow on their nails, phone cases, and clothing. They are simple, classy, and a cute touch to your everyday life.

Speaking of Christmas and bows, try creating a fluffy Christmas tree decorated with a maximalist style. Tinsel trees are fun, colorful, and sparkly – the perfect tree for a shimmering winter season!

Trends can sprout from anything, your nail color, a style of clothing, the way someone takes a photo, or fun drinks you get with your friends. Celebrities and social media are the main boosts for these trends.

Clothing trends like sherpa and fluff have been around for a long time, but this year sherpa sweaters and coats are in along with cozy sweaters. Chunky, fun, colorful sweaters and cardigans are both so cute and go with everything.

Scrunched up socks and platform uggs are definitely the way to go this winter. With winters being very chilly here in Arizona, uggs are warm and cozy, and add scrunched socks or cute and cozy leg warmers are the perfect thing to add to your wardrobe.

Nail colors and shape are everything. It adds to an outfit, and it shows your personality. Right now, a deep burgundy almond nail is the trendiest and most holiday themed nail in social media. Clean and simple nails and nail art are the most stunning nails to do this season. Burgundy almond nails aren’t the only type of design happening right now, but white pearly French tips with thin, elegant bows are perfect for a pink Christmas.

These fun winter trends don’t just happen for clothing. Home decor, food, and dishware are all a part of the upcoming winter trends. Stanleys have been trending for months now, but new colors that have arrived are perfect for everyday use. Stanleys aren’t the only fun cups this season, painting on glassware or pottery with festive colors and designs are super cute for holiday parties with your friends.

If finding materials is hard, places like As You Wish and Color Me Mine are two places where you can paint pottery for any occasion and any type of dishware or trinkets. As You Wish offers themed painting every month. In December, they have activities like painting clay ornaments, holiday mug painting, and clay paw impression ornaments. These are fun and simple activities that can brighten up this holiday season.

Another holiday craft idea is painting candles. Using melted candle wax or paint, add fun designs on taper candles, and having them on display adds fun colors and patterns to your space.

Trends can last for months or years. Something fun that has been around for many years on YouTube, is “Vlogmas” YouTube vloggers like Alisha Marie, Missremiashton and Caroline Manning are all very popular creators doing Vlogmas this year. Vlogmas is when YouTube vloggers film and post a video every day from December 1st to December 25th, they post all different types of videos and post different topics like decorating, Christmas shopping, what I got for Christmas, and so much more! It’s a great way to get into the Christmas spirit as soon as December hits!

Ariel Bolich, Staff Writer
Ariel was born and raised in California and moved to Arizona in 2021. While in California, she spent most of her time with friends and family as well as playing basketball and volleyball in middle school. Ever since elementary school she has wanted to be a teacher and was inspired by her aunt who was an elementary teacher for many years. She enjoys going to her aunt's classroom to teach her students science experiments, read to them and learn all about the teacher experience. She loves to work with kids and can't wait to have a classroom of her own. Ariel's favorite things to do are camping and spending time with her friends and family, and creating new projects, and she is very passionate about becoming an elementary school teacher.  In her free time, she is most likely calling her best friend or her cousins to tell them about her day and update them on everything happening in her life (she is probably being very dramatic too). She also listens to a lot of Taylor Swift in her free time. She first went to the 1989 world tour in 2015 and since then loved Taylor. Her favorite albums are 1989 and Midnights and her favorite thing about listening to Taylor is hearing the storytelling in the songs and the way that anyone can make it their own. And as Taylor Swift said, “Make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it. You have no reason to be afraid, you're on your own kid.”
