As the Class of 2024’s year is slowly approaching graduation, one of our very own graduates, Sophia Berger, has a huge plan already set out for her in her future career in college.
Berger is 18 years old and in her last years at Verrado High School. She is currently on our girls’s volleyball team while working hard to ensure her grades remain the best she can do. She loves to contribute to her local community by volunteering in fundraisers and events.
Her childhood was rough due to her sister having cancer at a young age and dealing with divorced parents.
Despite living through heartbreaking moments, she promised to live her life to the fullest.
“After we went through all of that, it was much better and we were all happier,” Berger states.
Her favorite memories are when she used to have her childhood friends from around her neighborhood playing outside or riding their scooters together. Berger has always enjoyed going on hikes and reading books.
Berger is currently in a relationship and her advice to all Vipers is, “ Some key factors you should have in your relationship are communication, and making sacrifices for one another.”
Her plan for the next four years after high school is to go to community college for two years, and with the remaining years of college, she would like to apply to a university.
The legacy she would like to leave behind is the kind, forgiving, and hard-working person she was during her four years at Verrado High School.
Some regrets she had during her high school career were hanging out with the wrong people that she was never meant to be with.
Some advice she would give to students at Verrado High School is, “Start thinking of your plans after high school because it will sneak up on you extremely fast and you’ll never see it coming. Also, cherish the time you have in high school no matter how hard school may be. Don’t ever take moments for granted.”
While getting ready for graduation, Sophia Berger contemplates her experiences and the insight she has gained throughout her journey. Despite encountering difficulties during her childhood, she emerged strong, vowing to embrace life to the fullest.
Engaged in her school and community, Sophia has dedicated her efforts to academics, sports, and volunteer work, aspiring to create a legacy of kindness, diligence, and compassion at Verrado High.
She encourages younger students to value their high school years and not to overlook moments, since they go by rapidly.
For Sophia, these are the values that have influenced her life and the heritage she wishes to create.
