BBQ is a staple in USA cuisine, and right here in Verrado there is actually been a BBQ joint that opened in 2019, Saucy Luke’s Craft BBQ.

In 2019 Luke Unrein, the founder, realized the popularity of his homemade BBQ Sauces. In local competitions he’s always been successful with it, winning several awards. This famous homemade sauce became the first-ever bottled sauce they made as a business. They called it Mullet Sauce.

Luke says “It’s funny how it got its name. It kinda named itself. Before bottling it my friends said it’s sweet in the front and spicy in the back then called it the mullet sauce. Well when it was time to bottle it. I was thinking of a name. And mentioned it to them and they were like it’s already got a name. Mullet Sauce’ so I said screw it let’s run with it. That’s how it was born”.

With the success of that sauce, the business began to grow. Adding more sauces, and rubs and selling actual BBQ. This addition to their inventory has allowed them to do many events like pop-ups, festivals, weddings, farmers markets, and catering.

Saucy’s Luke’s Craft BBQ is doing amazing currently. Everything has been going well and is selling, Luke has big plans for the business and says “My plan for the business is to open a restaurant here on the west side. I know it is gonna happen so I’m focusing on enjoying this ride. With the continued success of the sauce and rub line. And the pop-ups, festivals, weddings, farmers markets, and catering. I’ve learned to enjoy the ride. God had a plan. I just gotta keep walking through the doors that open ”

The food is made in local kitchens in Phoenix at the moment though and nothing is outsourced. If a person has special food exceptions they have them covered since they can make every food item vegan and/or gluten-free.

Their best-sellers are the previously mentioned Mullet sauce, the Texas Holdem rub, and the Brisket Sandwich

The tasty items of Saucy Luke’s Craft BBQ can be found on their website saucylukes.com and food is available here in Verrado on Fridays 5-8 pm at 1500 N Verrado Way. Which is the Fairfield Marriott behind Culver’s.
