Previous child star now singer, Olivia Rodrigo has always been in hot water throughout her entire career. Almost every type of controversy has been struck at her. People wonder if Olivia is truly the problem of all these issues she faces, however, most of her drama seems to escalate to an extreme.
One of her first drama situations was with Joshua Bassett. Now everyone knows when that’s all the internet can talk about. Sarbina vs Olivia was the talk of the town, the internet put girls against each other. Both girls however seemed to put it past them at some point going past the early day drama of their music careers.
Olivia’s song “Driver’s License” started the entire ball of drama. But truly it was just two girls being sad about their past relationships, all feelings were mush and they both have matured from the time they were beefing a little with songs like “Skin” by Sabrina Carpenter and “Lacy” by Olivia. Unfortunately, the media made a huge deal too, and made it worse for both of them.
Another wave of so-called drama was right after Olivia met her hero. Olivia had always been a Taylor Swift fan, meeting her idol in 2021.
Following that the internet made it so the relationship between them mainly down spiraled from there. People had started comparing Olivia to Taylor. To the point where Olivia had to pay Taylor for certain songs being too similar like how fans kept saying “Deja Vu” and “Cruel Summer” sounded too alike.
Some of those following the story blatantly said she was copying Taylor, calling her unoriginal and other mean phrases she didn’t deserve. Olivia has expressed she doesn’t like the comments but they haven’t stopped to this day. The Internet created this invisible beef between the two when there seems to be nothing wrong with their friendship.
Reading into songs from her GUTS album, especially her song “Vampire” the internet believed the song could relate to her and Taylor’s supposed rough connection. Overall the girls seem to get alone on camera and in this case, the media made something out of a stretch of interpretations of actions and words.
As Olivia toured an iconic woman called Chappell Roan opened some of her concerts. The Internet seemed fine with it until Chappell and Taylor’s concert opener Sabrina took a photo together. That’s right the internet freaked out over that. The internet saw that picture and decided Olivia Rodrigo must have been jealous and upset that Chappell interacted with Sabrina.
Due to the fact of Sabrina’s old beef with her and the idea that Taylor could technically be connected to it added to the conspiracy. But Olivia never said she was mad about any of this. Olivia supported what Chappell Roan did when she started to find her own place in the music industry.
Most of this drama Olivia has been in could affect less of her fanbase if things weren’t taken to maximum. It’s transparent that the web lives for beef to give entertainment.
What they don’t think about how Olivia and others were dragged into it created mental health issues in these stressful situations. As of late the people looking in at Rodrigo and her career have been calmer and hopefully, it can stay that way for peace of mind.
