On September 23, 2024, teachers and staff from Agua Fria High School District came for a conference that happened here at Verrado High School in which Rachna Mathur who is an ASU Prep Specialist, Student Body President of Verrado Bode Acton, Principal Allpress of Centerra Mirage STEM Academy, 8th Grade Chief Science Officer Laya Mohandas, and Principal Thomas of Verrado High School all came together for a conference on how to better help students and teachers with using AI technology for the betterment of their students and staff.
They each discussed their experiences with AI and how it has affected their classroom in many different ways. The students discussed how it has changed student’s lives inside their classrooms and how AI can be good in some ways but, can have its downside in the process. Executive Director of Arizona Technology, Nan Williams explains her side of AI, “Students don’t take into consideration the bias that is inheriting AI, and they depend solely on a single source and not go in and look to find resources and checking those resources. The positive aspect of this matter is that it is an awesome tool for students with writer’s block and is a good starting point.”
