Donovan Russell, Staff Writer
Born and raised in Buckeye Arizona, comes Donovan Russell. Passionate, unrelenting, hardworking, and ambitious are just a few words to describe this try-hard. Growing up on a small farm with 5 siblings and divorced parents, Donovan has learned to embrace change and seize any opportunity he has. During middle school, he was constantly mocked for trying too hard or going all out for the little things, but this criticism only catapulted his effort and desire to be something further. He loves books, sports (he has been in 3), pushing himself to his absolute limits, and always finding ways to improve. Although he may sound like a character out of a cheesy anime, he is just a natural try-hard.
President of SkillsUSA Engineering, Chess club, and Vice president of FBLA, Donovan always finds a way to interact at school and do his very best. He aspires to push people to their limits and try everything they can while in high school. His favorite saying comes from his time in Wrestling, where while he and his teammates were exhausted or crying because the exercise hurt, his Coach would simply say “This sucks. I like the way it sucks. I hope it sucks some more.” This quote means to him that the world brings you to your knees, but it is YOU who chooses to stay there. This one quote has changed his mindset and now every day he pursues his dreams with unrelenting fiery passion and encourages others to do the same. He currently is taking 5 AP classes his Junior year and tackles them with a positive attitude and quirky personality.
