Coming soon on Playstation 5 is the newest Spiderman game. Spiderman-2 by insomniac is predicted to be one of the best super hero games released.
Insomniac, the developers of Spiderman-2, are no strangers to amazing super hero games. They managed to set a new bar for super hero games when they released the first Spiderman game in 2018. This first game follows a veteran Peter Parker who had been Spiderman for some time.
The first game alone already received amazing feedback from fans, selling 3.3 million units in the first 3 days of release alone. This game also earned several nominations for its characters, performance, story and even the music, while winning the awards for Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Best Console Game, and Best Action/Adventure Game.
While this game was already amazing, Insomniac really stepped it up for the sequel, Spiderman: Miles Morales. This game follows a young Miles Morales who recently received his spider powers. The game follows Miles giving players insight into his powers, family, and how to really protect his city alone.
The sequel game also won several awards such as in Art Direction and in Control Design. These accomplishments alone are making people excited for the newest addition in 2023.
Gameplay shown at the Playstation showcase shows the gameplay is relatively the same. The swinging animations and fighting are as smooth as ever. However each character is shown to have new abilities and equipment.
This will add to the already creative side of these games, giving players different ways to defeat enemies and bosses. Speaking of bosses and enemies, one of the most iconic parts of Spiderman is the villains. The first Spiderman really let loose with villains, introducing the entire Sinister Six for Peter to defeat, including Dr. Octopus, Shocker, Vulture, Electro, Mr. Negative, and the Rhino.
Some of these villains also followed into the second game with Miles, however Miles encounters personal villains like the Prowler and the Tinkerer. With the new game, in the gameplay reveal at the Playstation showcase, villains such as Kraven the Hunter and the Venom symbiote were shown. Kraven the Hunter goes back to very old comic books, he is a hunter who craves finding a prey worth his hunt.
When he hears of the Spiderman and other enhanced individuals, he makes his way to New York City to begin his hunt. As for Venom, another iconic arch nemesis of Spiderman, it is not certain how he was revealed.
However, during the entirety of the trailer, Peter wears the symbiote, and he is acting clearly different than normal. He seems more angry, also being slightly rude to Miles and not thinking things through as he would usually. This leads us to believe Peter may become an enemy to Miles for a short time, as he may be taken over by the symbiote. However no matter what villains or obstacles the two face, it is sure to be an amazing game. Personally having played the first games and loving them to death, I think I will be just as happy as all of the other millions of Spiderman fans when this game releases!
