In our world today, we are witnessing something that many thought would never happen in the 21st century. We have talked about it in our history classes and watched the television wide-eyed as the horrific events unfold in Ukraine. Despite innocent people being attacked on their own home grounds, the people of Ukraine are staying strong and exhibiting immense patriotism, it the fight to protect their country. This got us wondering what we could do as high school students to help Ukraine. Below are a couple of organizations that you can support to help Ukraine. If you don’t have the means to give to these organizations, simply sharing them would also be helpful.
CARE is an organization that is helping Ukraine by providing food, water, and more. They aim to raise $20M for at least 4 Million people in the country.
Concerned for children caught in the very devastating conflict, forced to leave their homes whilst freezing temperatures, exposed to things such as injuries, and hunger. Save The Children is helping to send off life-saving aid to vulnerable children in Ukraine.
UNICEF is giving resources such as, safe drinking water, sanitation, and protection for families caught in the sad conflicts going on in Ukraine.
Ukraine | Doctors Without Borders also known as Médecins Sans Frontieres is working with organizations and volunteers locally to help those injured and affected by the conflicts in Ukraine, travel to health care. They also continue to help with the COVID 19 and HIV response.
International Committee of the Red Cross
The International Committee of the Red Cross provides emergency health care, clean water access, and improves the living conditions of those who have been affected by the heavy fighting in Ukraine.
On all of the organizations’ websites, they emphasized the importance of speaking out and spreading the word as the most important way to help besides donating money.
