Cold Storage is a horror comedy film that came out exclusively in theaters on February 13th, in the U.S. This film stars Liam Neeson, Joe Keery, and Georgina Campbell. Brought to viewers by the producer of Zombieland, screenwriter of Jurassic Park, and director Johnny Campbell, who is known for his 2020 adaptation of Dracula, this film follows Teacake and Naomi on the worst night shift possible.
Joe Keery charms as Teacake, who is a troubled, talkative guy who’s been given a bad hand in the game of life. Straight out of jail, he gets a job at a self-storage facility where he meets his new co-worker, Naomi, and their night slowly, but surely, goes downhill from there.
Teacake and Naomi work together to put the clues together and find out what horrifying mystery is going on underneath their workplace: a parasitic fungus has escaped from beneath their workplace, which was previously a military base where the fungus was, supposedly, contained for good. During this time, their romance blooms as they bond, running from the horrifying virus, which gives this film just the right touch of romance.

“Cold Storage” kept me on the edge of my seat for all 99 minutes of its entirety, every moment was filled with action and new information. The soundtrack was also very enjoyable and entertaining, using quirky and interesting choices that worked amazingly with each scene they were placed in.
Despite having action within every scene and moment, this film pieces it all together and balances it all, which makes it so it is not overwhelming or holding any useless information or keyholes in the plot, and keeping the viewers’ interest the whole time. This is very notable, when taking into consideration the fact that this film pieces together stories from many different years spread apart, in order to build up the plot.
In my opinion, Cold Storage is a fun, underrated film that more movie lovers should check out, and I would rate it five out of five stars. If you are looking for a film that balances action, horror, comedy, and a touch of romance, without being overwhelming, this is the perfect film for you!
