Verrado High School’s 2026 prom, themed “Garden of Time,” took place on Saturday, April 11th from 7-10 p.m. at The Clubs at Arrowhead, offering students a night away from campus to celebrate the end of the school year. While the event had its highlights, the overall experience felt somewhat uneven, with both memorable and noticeable drawbacks.
One of the biggest positives of the night was the venue itself. Hosting prom at a country club gave the event a more formal and upscale atmosphere compared to a typical school setting. The surroundings, especially as the sun set, created a beautiful backdrop that fit well with the “Garden of Time” theme. It made for great pictures and gave the night a more special feel right from the start.
The photobooth was another highlight. Students spent a lot of time there with friends, taking fun and memorable pictures that they could keep after the event. It added an interactive element to the night and gave people something to do beyond dancing.
However, some parts of prom didn’t quite live up to expectations. One common issue was lack of food and snack options. For a three-hour event, many students felt there should have been more variety or at least more consistent availability. It left some people disappointed, especially since food is usually a big part of the prom experience.
The music also received mixed reactions. The DJ played a large amount of rap, which some students enjoyed, but others felt there weren’t enough “danceable” songs that could appeal to a wider crowd. Because of this, the dance floor wasn’t always as energetic as it could have been, and at times the vibe felt uneven.
Another area that could have been improved was the decorations. Given the “Garden of Time “ theme many students expected more immersive or detailed decor to really bring the concept to life. Instead, the decorations were fairly minimal, which made parts of the venue feel a bit plain and less memorable than they could have been.
Despite these drawbacks, prom still gave students a chance to dress up, spend time with friends, and celebrate the end of the year. The nice venue and fun features like the photo booth helped create enjoyable moments throughout the night.
Overall, Verrado High School’s prom had a solid foundation but left room for improvement. WIth more attention to food, music variety, and decorations, future proms could better match their themes and create a more unforgettable experience.
