Many Verrado students don’t know the values and opportunities in the student-led organization, FBLA– acronym for Future Business Leaders of America. This organization is for those who are goal-oriented and plan to move forward in their desired professional field after high school. Being in FBLA, there are many learning and engaging aspects to be a part of.
Since Digital Media became a new CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) incorporating FBLA, there was a lot to unravel and learn throughout our time at the conference with the acquired knowledge that was gained.
Here’s a more in-depth description of the three days at the convention:
From April sixth to the eighth, Verrado High School took FBLA members from Journalism, Photography and Coding classes to the State Conference in Tucson to compete in events, connect with other FBLA members, and learn more about the processes and responsibilities that come with managing business opportunities.
After a two hour drive from Verrado to Tucson, and members checking into the hotel, all three teams went to the convention center to meet with the other chapters across Arizona, and prepare for their upcoming competitions. Some students, such as Alton Samuelson, had to compete almost immediately, while others such as Magnolia Amadeus had to set up their presentations for the next day.
Beyond the setup times, the conference also had an opening statement from the 2025-2026 FBLA National Officers, who spoke at length about the various opportunities for growth and connection at the conference for the students in attendance.
During the three days at the conference, workshops were held between the competition times in rooms scattered throughout the convention center. These workshops all touched upon the skills that would be needed in a professional environment, such as communication skills, economic trading, and how to identify personality types. These workshops were all taught by professionals who have had decades of experience in their respective fields.
Over the course of the Conference, members attended multiple workshops that built character, strategy, and integrity. What makes this attendance special is that from each workshop you go to, you learn something to better yourself. Whether you consider joining FBLA or already a part of the group, investing your time here is never a waste.
