May the 4th. Not only Star Wars day, but the day of the KVHS Movie Night. The 8th annual celebration of student made films and projects from all levels of the Film & TV class here at Verrado. Several of the films that were screened had been submitted to film competitions and SkillsUSA conferences for the opportunity to gain prestigious awards and demonstrate Verrado talent. Live action music videos, several cartoon-styled animations, abstract horror and comedy sketches were all showcased for two hours of films, with intermissions.
While the crowds weren’t as thrumming as the ones from last year, the auditorium was still abuzz with students and parents alike as they enjoyed hot popcorn, cold sodas and a few good laughs at the film projects. The showcase highlight of the night was Ava Cassidy’s ‘Dear Diary’ senior capstone project, a film about a teenage girl overcome with social anxieties, and the rather drastic measures she takes to have a good time at prom, after a series of unlucky events and bad perception.
The movie night was still immensely entertaining, and brought students and their families together for a night watching movies.
