Emily Hernandez Alvarez

Emily Hernandez Alvarez, Staff Writer

Originally from Puerto Cortes, Honduras, Emily Hernandez moved to Arizona two years ago to pursue her dream of coming to the U.S. to study. Her first language is Spanish, making it somewhat difficult for her to fully express herself when it comes to English. She grew up in Honduras where she learned to love her roots and culture.

Emily is a Senior at Verrado who is deeply into books, art, music, and dancing. She has been a dancer for 15 years now and expects to continue with this form of art through college. You will never see her without her wired headphones in, and if you ever find her around at school, ask her what she is currently listening to! She is sure to recommend something you would like. She plans on going to college after graduating to get her Bachelor's in Forensic Science.

One of her favorite things is sharing her Hispanic heritage with the people around her. Being an immigrant herself, she finds herself showing sympathy for her fellow immigrants, who she considers as her own family. She will never miss an opportunity to teach you about her country and culture, and to tell you stories about her time growing up in Honduras. In her last year in Verrado, she hopes to make new friends and have new experiences in our school, which she still considers unknown.
