It’s 7:15 AM, the halls are packed, and the aroma of a slightly too-expensive Starbucks latte is in the air. But wait—over the sound of hurried footsteps and morning chatter, you hear it: a killer guitar riff slicing through the daily chaos. If you walk down the E-Wing hallway, you’ve definitely heard Verrado’s resident rockstar, Brodi Sambo, laying down some serious licks. The Viper Times tracked him down to find out what fuels his daily shred-session and what he’d play for the entire school if he had the chance.
The Daily Jam Sesh: Why E-Wing?
For most students, the morning rush is a blur of trying to find the right classroom. For [Student Name], it’s prime time for a creative outlet.
“Honestly, when I started playing in E-Wing, I’d already been playing for a couple of years and felt good enough to finally bring my first guitar to school,” he shared. “It’s a good creative output for me—it’s just a lot of fun, especially when people stop and request songs.”
He’s not just playing; he’s performing! Sometimes, he even brings a speaker to play along with the actual tracks, turning a regular hallway into a pop-up concert venue.
School-Wide Setlist: Intercom Takeover!
So, you’ve got the whole school’s attention for five minutes over the intercom. What’s the ultimate song choice?
“That’s a tough one,” he admitted, pausing for a moment of rock contemplation. “I think it would have to be either ‘Iron Man’ by Black Sabbath or ‘Master of Puppets’ by Metallica.”
His reasoning is solid: “Those are both songs I know well, and they are on the more popular side of songs I can play.” Can you imagine the whole school headbanging over the announcements?
Shredding Influences: No Rules, Just Pure Emotion
Every great artist has an inspiration, and [Student Name]’s heroes have shaped his unique, high-energy style.
“Gotta be Kurt Cobain,” he said. “I agree with his thoughts that learning music theory blocks creativity. Music isn’t about rules; it’s about free expression.”
His other major influence is the late, great Dimebag Darrell (Pantera’s original guitarist). “With his iconic pinch harmonic squeals and dive bombs he did in his solos… all the pure emotion and energy that just flows into his work. I play very similarly to how he plays; it just flows so naturally.”
Band Name Needed: Verrado’s Next Big Thing
What happens when you mix a creative guitarist, a budding drummer, and an amazing alum? A band, of course!
Sambo is already plotting his group’s lineup: Josh Rasor is on drums. “I plan on making music with him one day.” And for a second guitarist, he tapped Verrado graduate Nico Cooper, calling him “an amazing guitarist I play with on occasions.”
The only missing pieces? A bass player and a name! “Me and Josh are still working on that, and we don’t have a bass player, so we are a little more focused on that than making a name at the moment.” Calling all Verrado bassists!
The Grind: Perfection Takes Practice
Even rockstars have homework, and right now, Sambo is intensely focused on mastering two epic tracks.
“Currently, I’m working on perfecting ‘Ride the Lightning’ by Metallica and ‘No More Tears’ by Ozzy Osbourne,” he revealed.
Why these two? Ride the Lightning is an “energetic song that gives me chills playing it, and the solo is a lot of fun.” No More Tears is “just a beautiful song all around.” He’s putting in the work, practicing for a few hours at home every day, so expect to hear these riffs perfected in E-Wing soon!
