Get ready to drop your homework and grab your wallets because this week is about to be the most epic week of the winter season! Verrado High kicked off a huge Make-A-Wish Spirit Week on Monday, December 8th, to honor an awesome student, Deliah, and raise cash to make her wish come true. Think amazing themed days, messy lunch activities, and rewards that will totally change our school day. You don’t want to miss out on the action!
Activities are the best part! As Stugo advisor Mrs. Angela Summer says, “This is my favorite week of the year.” Why? Because all the fun helps us raise money for Deliah! Don’t forget to bring cash to lunch because things are about to get messy.
Lia Coronado, a Junior at Verrado agrees, “It’s amazing to see what our community does, and being able to be a part of his story overwhelms me with joy. ”
Get your outfits ready because the themes are super fun this year!
Monday: Mickey Monday! Wear your favorite Disney gear. Think Mickey Mouse, Goofy, maybe even a princess or two.
Tuesday: Turtle Tuesday! Break out ALL the green you own. It’s time to look like a swamp creature (in a cute way). Delilah has a pet turtle!
Wednesday: Wednesday vs. Wednesday! This is a serious fashion face-off! Choose a side: rock black like Wednesday Addams, or wear pink if you’re a Mean Girls fan (because on Wednesdays, we wear pink!).
Thursday: Boots vs. Bands! Another competition! Are you Team Country, wearing your boots and denim? Or are you Team Concert, rocking a music or band t-shirt?
Friday: Bluey Out! Finish the week strong by wearing head-to-toe blue for Make-A-Wish, and then head to the assembly!
Lunchtime Chaos and Coin Wars!

“My favorite part of wish week was getting to see our kid Brad Koziatek from the previous school year talk about his trip from New York. Seeing his excitement of getting his dream come true was definitely something I would never forget,” said Coronado.
One of the best things for students who have been at Verrado for a couple of years was seeing the return of former Wish Week kid, Brad Koziateck, make a surprise appearance during the student assembly on Friday.
Sydney Hachmann, a Senior at Verrado, explains: “My favorite part of Wish Week was seeing Brock and hearing his dad talk about his story and how much our donations impacted their family.”
Daily Lunch Activities:

Monday: Pie a Stugo member in the face!
Tuesday: Car smash! (Get out some aggression!)
Wednesday: Pie a teacher in the face!
Thursday: Soak-a-Senior!
Friday: Duct tape Mr. Lee to the wall!
STUGO is also selling Wish Stars all week long for just $1 each!
Plus, it’s time for the Coin War! Your advisory (your second-period class) is competing to collect the most coins in a jar. Here’s the secret to winning: put dollar bills in another class’s jar, and it deducts their points! The winning advisory gets a mystery prize!
We all know it’s a fun week, but there is something special and important about it. Hachmann knows how important this week is. “I really enjoyed Wish Week because I think it is important to bring people together to help support someone who is going through something hard.”
The More We Raise, The Crazier It Gets!

This is where it gets really good. The more money we raise for Deliah, the cooler the assembly rewards are! We need to hit these goals!
Verrado is hosting five events that the whole community can enjoy! Tell your parents and friends to come support Deliah, too!
Tuesday, December 9th (6 p.m. – 7 p.m.): Colors of Compassion painting room event. $20 per person.

It’s a huge week, Vipers! Let’s show off our school spirit, have a ton of fun, and make a real difference for Deliah!
