Alexa Simpson, Staff Writer
Alexa Simpson was born August 11th, 2008 in Phoenix AZ. Her family lived in Portugal at the time, but her mother Leah Simpson decided to have Alexa in Arizona where her mom’s sister lived. When Alexa was born, her father was working in the U.S Air Force, and couldn’t travel to see her birth. The doctors that delivered Alexa were very excited to have Alexa’s dad on video call, considering that they had never had someone on video call for a birth before. Alexa’s mother shortly went back home to Portugal, where they lived there for a short amount of time before moving to Kansas.
Alexa Simpson grew up as a military child for most of her childhood, before her father retired in 2018. When her dad retired, their family moved to Arizona when her dad got a job opportunity there. Alexa has an older brother named Caleb Simpson who graduated from Verrado High School in 2022. She has three dogs and a leopard gecko and enjoys many hobbies such as painting, decorating, writing, drawing, and working out.
She hopes to attend college on the east coast or study at NAU as a backup where she’ll most likely study art history, culinary arts, or creative writing. Her best friend is Faith Clark, whom she loves dearly. She spends most of her days shopping with family members and annoying her mom. She has a shopping addiction and hardly ever has the money to keep up with it. However, she loves giving gifts and the holidays are exciting for her as she loves to come up with creative gift ideas.
She loves documentaries and reading, however, she does not enjoy high school. Alexa’s favorite book is either The Catcher in the Rye (J.D Sallinger) or The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Stephen Chbosky). Her favorite people are her Great Grandmother Margaret (whom she’s named after), her mother, and her cousin, Chloe. Alexa Simpson is nervous to start Journalism on the school paper, but ready to get to writing and communicating.
